Phu Yen is a coastal province in the southern part of Central Vietnam. Its coastline is 189 kilometres long, many mountain ranges extending close to the sea have created a lot of lagoons, bays with picturesque backdrops like Cu Mong Lagoon, O Loan Lagoon, Xuan Dai Bay, Vung Lam Bay, Vung Ro Bay. There are many small islands near the seashore such as the islands of Nhat Tu Son, Hon Lao Mai Nha, Hon Chua, Hon Dua, Hon Nua...especially Mui Dien Cape, the point of land in the extreme east of Vietnam's mainland. Along the coatline, there are many beautiful, isolated and pure beaches such as the beaches of Bai Tien, Bai Xep, Bai Nom, Bai Bang, Bai Tu Nham, Long Thuy; there are many famous rocky reefs like the Rocky Dish Reef, the Red Reef.

In the west of the province is the Krong Trai Natural Reserve, more than 22,000 acres large with a rich ecosystem of animal and plant species, Song Hinh Hydro-power Reservoir of 41km2, in the near future is Song Ba Ha Hydro-power Reservoir, Dong Cam Dam built and brought into use by the French since 1932, hot mineral water spring of Phu Sen, Triem Duc and Tra O, especially there is the North Deo Ca Restricted Forest connecting to Da Bia mountain of 706 metres high with the area of 8,780 acres with many rare and precious animal and plant species. The natural potential of the sea and islands together with the highland mountains and forests and plains is a major advantage to develop many kinds of tourism especially the forest and marine ecological tourism.

Beside the natural tourist resources, Phu Yen also has a rich source of human literature and history with ten national-level Heritages of History, Culture, Architecture and Landscapes. The traditional cultural festivals, the features of cultural activities of the ethnic minorities communities in the province like: fish - praying caremonies, O Loan Lagoon boat-racing festivals, the buffalo - piercing festivals, the new-rice celebrations...Besides, there are also ethnic musical instruments like stone musical instruments, stone bugles, "goong "musical instruments, double drums, goongs...This will be a valuable resource for cultural, tourist and research activities.

The conditions for developing the transport system in Phu Yen is rather convenient for all roads, railways, airways and sea ways.

For roads and railways: Phu Yen has the National Highway 1A and the Trans-Vietnam railway running through it following the North-South direction, it has the National Road 25 and the inter-province road DT645 newly upgraded and bitumen-covered which is the shortest route connecting Phu Yen to the Highland provinces, from there it cna join the Trans-Asian road via the countries in the Indochina peninsula.

For airways: Phu Yen has Tuy Hoa Airport which is considered ot be the biggest airport in Central Vietnam, especially for those who come to Van Phong - Dai Lanh Tourist Resort, Tuy Hoa airport is the most convenient, only 30 kms from it.

For sea way: Phu Yen has Vung Ro harbour capable of receiving ships of more than 10,000 tons, it is also located adjacent to Van Phong - Dai Lanh Bay (Khanh Hoa province), the place being planned and invested by the Government to be the National General Tourist Resort of the international scope.
