Vietnam government has mutual agreement policies with some countries and that their citizens do not need travel visa to Vietnam for a certain period of time. Citizens of other countries may need travel visa to Vietnam.
Vietnam Visa Exemption
Passport holders of certain countries can travel to Vietnam without visa in a certain time: (Updated September 2016)
Within 15 days: United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Japan, South Korea
Within 21 days: The Philippines
Within 30 days: Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia
Within 60 days: APEC Business Travel Card holders

Getting visa to Vietnam before arrival:
You must have a valid passport and must be valid for six months beyond your planned stay and you must have at least one blank visa page
When you apply for travel visa to enter Vietnam, be sure to request the visa category that corresponds to your purpose of travel.
If you plan to work in Vietnam, you must obtain a work permit before applying for your visa. If you change the purpose of your visit after you have received your visa, you must obtain a new visa outside of Vietnam appropriate for your new activities before beginning those activities.

Getting visa on arrival to Vietnam:
Let of Visa on arrival to Vietnam is a document that issued and approved by Vietnam Immigration Department. The document allows traveler(s) to enter and exit Vietnam for a given time period. With the approval letter, traveler(s) will have their visa stamped at arrival international airports in Vietnam (Hanoi - Noi Bai International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City - Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Nha Trang City - Cam Ranh Airport and Da Nang - Danang International Airport)
The invitation letter can be for 1 or more than 1 travelers
Travelers need to contact a travel company with International Tour Operator License to get this letter
