Dong Van at a Glance

In February, 2013, a group pf “Dong Van’s lovers” held an exhibition to express their feelings and present gifts for local people through their pictures that they took about people, nature and life of Dong Van. In addition to show beautiful pictures, organizers successfully held a cultural event, in which they give, receive happiness and shorten the gap between the flat country and mountainous area as well as ethnic minorities and Vietnamese community. In addition, the exhibition also contributes to protect cultural values of the Highlands.

We would like to show some pictures of the exhibition Dong Van – Spring 2013.

Further information:

Dong Van plateau is one of the most favorite destinations of backpackers in the Northern mountainous areas. Located about 450km from Hanoi, this landscape enchants guests for its imposing, pristine panorama and rich cultural values. During four seasons, there are always a large number of travelers to experience Dong Van.

You can take a car from Hanoi to Ha Giang and hire a motorbike to explore the plateau at about VND 250,000/day. There are many passenger cars such as Ngoc Cuong, Khai Huyen, Bang Phan, Cau Me and Hai Van…

The geological park includes 4 mountainous districts in Ha Giang: Quan BA, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac. The 4C national road from Ha Giang passes across four districts and lead to beautiful villages in the valley, crossing slopes with an abundance of wild flowers.

Popular destinations: Quan Ba heaven gate, Quan Ba twin mountains, Yen Minh pine forest, Pho Cao, Sung La, Sa Phin, Pho Bang, Lung Cu flagpole – the sacred Northern pole of the country, Dong Van town, Ma Pi Leng mountain pass, which features 9 bends of more than 20km linking Dong Van and Meo Vac, Tu San defile with Nho Que river and a variety of stunning sceneries along the road.

Dong Van and Meo Vac markets are open on Sunday; Quyet Tien, Sung Tra markets are on Saturday. Sa Phin backward market is on Ty (snake) and Hoi (pig) days; Pho Bang backward market is on Ty (rat) and Ngo (horse) days; Lung Phin market is on Dan (tiger) and Than (monkey) days. Markets manifest the most clearly about daily life and cultural characters of ethnic minorities such as Mong, Tay, Giay and Hoa…on the plateau.
