One of the places to feel the earliest air of the Lunar New Year are trade villages that make chung cake. Follow Travellive’s reporter to visit Tranh Khuc village, Duyen Ha, and Thanh Tri district, Hanoi, where you can see the quick preparation, from houses to houses.

From the elders to the children, they all take part in the various steps of making chung cake: washing dong leaves (a kind of leave used to wrap outside chung cake), soaking rice, crushing beans, cutting meat, wrapping…

 

Especially, Tranh Khuc people never need a frame to wrap Chung cakes.

 

Cakes have to be boiled in the boiler or stove from 8 to 10 hours.

 

The green bean filling is crushed, devided into equal parts with filled meat inside.
