An early start as we meet at Siem Reap’s famous FCC hotel & restaurant at 8 am for our transfer by luxury air-conditioned coach to Prek Kdam on the Tonle Sap river to meet the Mekong Dawn boat.
You will be met by our Cruise Manager with a welcome drink and checked into your cabins.
We then sail for a gentle cruise down the river toward today’s destination Kampong Tralach.
Lunch will be served as we cruise and enjoy the views along the Tonle Sap. A local rural area of natural beauty, you will dock amongst the rice paddies.
After docking and disembarking, step back in time as you enjoy a ride in a traditional local Ox-cart through the Cambodian villages!
Return to the boat for a relaxed evening on board with dinner and drinks served amongst the rural splendor of this very scenic spot along the river.
The boat will begin its gentle ride toward Kampong Chhnang as the sun rises, but you can take your time to rise for breakfast as you feel comfortable.
The ride from Koh Chen to Kampong Chhnang is one of the most scenic on the Tonle Sap, as you pass floating villagers and fishermen, children waving from the shores all the while.
We arrive and dock in Kampong Chhnang at lunchtime, where you can enjoy your meal in the stunning surroundings of Kampong Chhnangs floating villages.
After lunch and allowing for the hottest time of the day to pass, we transfer to the local port in smaller boats for visits to the town’s famous pottery villages. The word ‘Chhnang’ literally means pottery in Khmer and local craftsmen travel and sell their wares throughout the Kingdom. We can visit the villages either with a gentle bike ride or by local ‘tuk tuks’, either way you will be able to take in the beautiful scenery of this province, with its flat landscape dotted with palm trees, mountain views and lush rice paddies.
Return to the Mekong Dawn for sun downers over the river and surroundings.
We enjoy dinner here before bedding for the night.
Enjoy your breakfast in the stunning surroundings of Kampong Chhnangs floating villages.
We then set sail for a gentle cruise down the river toward the old mountain capital of Udong.
The ride from Kampong Chhnang to Koh Chen is one of the most scenic on the Tonle Sap, as you pass floating villagers and fishermen, children waving from the shores all the while.
We arrive and dock in Koh Chen around lunchtime, where you can enjoy your meal followed by a visit to the local village where craftsmen work with silver and other materials.
We will then whizz you to nearby Udong mountain, where a brisk climb takes you to one of the finest views in the Kingdom. From 1618 to 1866 this served as Cambodia’s capital city and an array of interesting stupas, tombs and memorials remain.
Enjoy a choice of sunset either atop the mountain or back at the boat.
In the evening you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner on board.
We dock here in the peaceful vicinity of Koh Chen for our third night.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as we hop on along the river toward our final destination of Phnom Penh.
From the historic capital of old Udong witness the dramatic transformation of Cambodia as we approach the new, ever developing, new capital of Phnom Penh with its high-rise buildings.
You will have time to pack and gather your belongings before disembarking around 10 am.
We will transfer you to the central riverside location of the DOT Grill restaurant, a short distance from our private dock.
