Your experience begins at Ba Be Lake, Vietnam’s largest natural freshwater lake, surrounded by limestone mountains and dense tropical forests. Glide across the still waters by boat, visit hidden caves, and engage with ethnic minority communities who have lived in harmony with nature for generations.
From there, continue to the breathtaking Ban Gioc Waterfalls, a spectacular cascade shared between Vietnam and China. Tucked away in Cao Bang Province, this lesser-known wonder offers awe-inspiring views and tranquil surroundings, far removed from tourist crowds. Along the way, explore winding mountain roads, scenic rice terraces, and traditional villages.

We will meet our tour guide and driver at 7:00 am at the lobby of the hotel in Hanoi, then depart for Bac Kan province where we take a boat trip to explore the beauty of Ba Be Lake. It takes us a morning to drive and we have lunch on the way to Ba Be. We will have a boat trip along Nang river, stop to visit Dau Dang waterfall, starting from Nang river and fall down to the valley, Puong cave, Fairy Pond and An Ma Temple. Then take a short trek to Pac Ngoi village, home of Tay ethnic minority people. Overnight at homestay.
After breakfast with the host, we depart for Cao Bang province to visit Ban Gioc Waterfall which is a world’s 4th largest waterfall with a half in Vietnam and the other half in China. That is the place many people wish to come! Standing in the waterfall area, we will feel the fresh, cool and very pleasant water generated by tiny drops. Take some great photos with Ban Gioc waterfall before lunch.
On the way turn back Cao Bang town, we will stop at Nguom Ngao cave. This is a long cave (about 800 m) with a river inside, in flooding season, sometimes people cannot visit it because of the high water level. Then our car and drive transfer you to hotel in Cao Bang city for staying overnight. Farewell dinner tonight!
Today, you will have a whole day drive back to Hanoi with stops for coffee and lunch on the way. Arrive in Hanoi at about 4 PM. Trip ends!
