- 16. Siem Reap Departure
Day 1: Hanoi
We will collect you at Hanoi’s airport for a transfer to your hotel in the city – after which you can relax and soak in your first taste of the beautiful ambiance surrounding the capital Hanoi. Spend the evening walking around the old quarter observing the many delights to be seen.
Day 2: Hanoi Exploring
After arriving back to Hanoi, be sure to make the most of your last days in the city. There are many fascinating museums and historic sites showcasing Vietnamese people and cultures that are simply a must-see the first time you are here, some of which include:
- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
- Vietnam Museum of Ethnology
- St Joseph’s Cathedral
- West Lake
- One-Pillar Pagoda
In the evening we take you to the train station for the overnight train to Sapa.
Day 3: Sapa
You will arrive at Lao Cai Station in the hours of dawn. Limber up after your trip before boarding your personal coach which will take you first to a warming highland breakfast before heading to the vibrant Bac Ha Market, located about 75km from Lao Cai Station. Surrounded by the gorgeous highland scenery of sloping hills and tiered rice fields, the market is a buzzing hive of activity, drawing members of all ethnic groups to converge in a mass of brightly colored scarves and gesticulating ink-stained fingers.
After lunchtime you’ll arrive in Sapa itself, the town perched on the mountainside.
Day 4: Cat Cat Village – Sapa
Breakfast is at sunrise and then check out of your hotel. We will first sneak through the market, already abuzz with activity, then continue to leave the busy town behind as you will be following a rocky road leading downhill to Cat Cat village. Take a rest here before you trek downhill to get Sin Chai village, where you will see the tribes people at work dying cloth, embroidering patterns, tending the fields or huddled over a hunk of stone, attempted to carve figurines to sell at the market.
Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery on the way back to Sapa town for lunch. You will have free time to discover the town yourself in the afternoon. After dinner return to the hotel for a shower, our car will transfer you to Lao Cai station for the overnight train back to Hanoi.
Day 5/6/7: Halong Bay
The overnight train will arrive back to Hanoi around 6am, where our driver will be waiting to take you to a hotel for a shower breakfast. Around 8am you will be collected for the transfer to Halong Bay. You can spend either 2 or 3 days cruising in the World Famous Halong Bay. Our trips include many activities when you are there including kayaking amongst the serene Limestone Karsts, visiting Caves, and having the opportunity to swim in the cool waters.
After your cruise ends you will be transferred back to your hotel in Hanoi.
Day 8: Hoi An
With a morning flight from Hanoi to Danang, you will arrive into Hoi An town around lunchtime. This town is famed for being a World Heritage Site due to the historically beautiful Old Quarter. Spend the afternoon trailing around taking in the wonderful ambiance. Hoi An is famous for its many tailors, who can make any clothing you desire and usually within 24 hours. Why not get fitted for a new suit or dress and collect it in the morning?
Day 9: Hoi An Relaxing
This day can be spent touring around the city and its delights. In the morning we will take you to Hoi An’s close by Pottery Village and onwards to the Silk Farm. Return to your hotel to collect a bicycle for a cycle to Tra Que village, here you can have fun with local farm activities – giving you the opportunity to experience the laid back and happy life of the local people.
Just before lunchtime you can take a cooking class on the farm – cooking your own lunch under the supervision and guidance of an experienced local chef.
From here you can continue to cycle the remaining 2km to the beach. Relax here for the afternoon while soaking up the sunshine and sipping a cocktail.
Day 10: Saigon
Take another morning flight to Saigon and arrive before lunchtime. You can spend this first day relaxing in many of Ho Chi Minh City’s side-street café’s – or walk around District 1 getting a real feel for the place.
Day 11: Cu Chi Tunnels – Saigon Exploring
A morning drive will take you to visit the famous Cu Chi tunnels, located 70 km to the Northwest of Saigon’s city centre. The tunnels compose a twisting maze of underground passages, chambers, rooms and booby traps used by the Vietminh during the Vietnam War. After lunch, drive back to Saigon where you are free to spend the afternoon exploring many of this fantastic city’s popular attractions.
Day 12: Mekong River
Enjoy a fast, scenic speedboat trip through the Mekong Delta. Departing by boat from HCMC’s central pier, you will explore areas of the Mekong Delta that few other tourists get to experience. Quaint hamlets and busy towns are dependent on the innumerable canals, tributaries and markets in the region that overflow with fish and a variety of produce yielded by the delta’s rich ecosystem.
Arriving back to Saigon Pier late afternoon – enjoy your last night in Vietnam with your last taste of some of the local specialties.
Day 13: Siem Reap
After breakfast relax until our driver will come to take you to airport for your flight to Siem Reap. After arrival we will take you to check in to the hotel, and then our guide will take you for some Siem Reap orientation and a day tour.
In the evening you can find a restaurant to sit and watch the Cambodian people go about their busy lives.
Day 14: Angkor Temples
In order to see the best this huge complex has to offer – you should take a 2-day tour. Our guide will take you the 7km journey from central Siem Reap to show you around for the day. We are allowed to enter the complex from the less used Eastern Gate which allows you to gain a greater and more peaceful perspective of the area as a whole.
We will spend a lot of time at the Ancient and World Famous Angkor Wat – the biggest religious monument of its kind in the world.
Day 15: Angkor Temples
After breakfast at the hotel we set out again for the second day touring the park. Visit the Temples of Prasat Kravan (Brick temple – 10th BC), Ta Prohm (Jungle temple), and then walk about 3 km to one small temple in the forest. Continue to victory Gate of Angkor Thom, visit to Preah Khan and Neak Pean temples.
You can spend your final evening relaxing before your journey home, thinking about the fabulous journey you have just embarked on throughout many of South East Asia’s most famous and popular sites.
Day 16: Siem Reap Departure
Today we will collect you and take you to the airport for your homeward flights. Either direct from Siem Reap or return to Hanoi for your flight home.
